Mopar Sunday 2012.
Dear Mopar Fans,
The 10th annual ‘Mopar Sunday’ is set to be held on July 29 at Willowbank raceway. Enthusiasts will have the chance to either watch or take part in a range of events including all day drag racing, a dyno shootout, a huge 'show & shine' and swap meet.
Drag Racing
There is now just under 4 weeks to go to Mopar Sunday 2012 so please get you entries in now if you wish to drag race at this years event. You can register online or download entry forms at moparsunday.com.
After scrutinising the log files, for 2012 we have revised the dial your own time format to even the field and added a 'heads up' Pro Tree bracket so there is now a choice for entrants. The revised brackets are now 0 - 10.99, 11 - 12.99, 13 - 14.99 and 15 & over.
Pre-entry is only $65.00. Lots of awesome Mopar's have already registered to tear up the strip including some seriously quick machines! Drag racing is open to all Mopars, old and new, whether they be dedicated drag cars, street machines or stock rides.
2012 is a special year as it marks the 75th anniversary for Mopar and to celebrate, ANDRA Pro Series, Pro Stock driver Lee Bektash will be out in force with his newly designed car and brand new 398 Rick Waters billet head Hemi direct from the USA. Help cheer him on as he tries to better last years time of 7.07 @ 194mph
'Show n Shine'
The Surf City Garage 'Show n Shine' for 2012 features 22 trophy categories including dedicated Jeep trophies. If you would like to display your Mopar whether it be US, Aussie, classic or modern, just follow the QCA show signs around to the roped off area adjacent to the start line.
The 'show n shine' is hosted by the Queensland Chrysler Association (QCA) and entry is free once you’re in the gate. You are also welcome to participate in the show and shine even if you are racing. The QCA folks will register you on arrival and give you a windscreen number. Voting is people’s choice so make sure you fill out the tear off slip with your favourites and return it to the box provided. Trophy presentations take place just in front of the display area around 3.30.
Mopar Esky
Albion Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Leo Muller Chrysler Jeep Dodge will be generously giving away a Mopar Esky full of beer and merchandise on the day. Entry is free, just fill out a form and pop it in the box on the day and the winner will be drawn after the presentation.
Spectators
With all day drag racing, a dyno shootout, a huge 'show n shine', a swap meet, merchandise stands and trade stalls on site there is plenty of opportunity to check out all of the action, pick up some memorabilia, find that part you’ve been looking for or just catch up with fellow Mopar enthusiasts. Spectator tickets are now available online at moparsunday.com or by purchase at the gate prior to entering Mopar Sunday.
Gates open at 7am for an 8am start and the event winds up at 4pm.
